Description:

The knitting board uses a centuries old technique to create beautifully knitted projects without struggling with needles. The knitting boards are made of solid kiln dried hardwood by master craftsmen, and sanded to a smooth finish. The knitting needles are steel pins with small ball tips spaced 3/8" apart, and steel hardware securing the boards. Create many different looks with one board using fine to bulky yarns. One board is all you need to create small projects to large sweaters. Instructions and two patterns are included with the board.

4no instructions!!!Nov 28, 2009
By A. K. Burke
The product needs a little sanding so yarn won't snag. It came with an extra set of long bolts to really configure it in very different widths. It would have been nice to have some instructions, as listed as included, so I could get started.

4(**UPGRADED REVIEW)** No instructions, just a plain wrap white box and pictures of projectsDec 27, 2010

(UPDATE IS BELOW THIS ORIGINAL DECEMBER REVIEW)
I have this same brand in the 28" that I bought myself a few months ago and love it. It came with two DVDs and INSTRUCTIONS-imagine that! I bought this 18" as a birthday gift for my sister-in-law (coming up in January) so I'm going to have to supply her with a copy of the instructions and the extra DVDs from my 36" board that I just ordered (and the DVDs were included with that one!)

The board itself is fine-but I had to go with 3 stars due to the lack of instructions &/or DVDs.

**UPDATE-FEBRUARY 2011** (upgraded review to 4 stars):

I bought another one of the 18" knitting boards the end of February as a gift (turns out it's from this same seller - Creative Crafts - fulfilled by Amazon)and it too was missing the instructions. Since the product did not state that a DVD would be present, I wasn't expecting one in either of the packages, but since the instructions were not there, I would have then expected something else with instructions, such as a DVD. I, instead, copied the two DVDs and instructions that came with my 36" & 28" boards to include with my gifts. The Authentic Knitting Board web site [...] also has the video files downloadable so I made sure the recipients went out to the website for more instructions.

Anyway, when I left feedback for the board I recently purchased in February (also as a gift), I didn't realize it was the same seller as the board I bought in December, so my review did not post to Amazon (you cannot post twice for the same item), but my 2nd review did go to the seller, and I received a very nice voice message this morning from the seller who was very apologetic for the error and offered to correct the problem, which is somewhat out of the seller's control because Amazon is sending out the knitting boards. Perhaps the manufacturer, which is "not in the U.S.", is not including the instructions.

So, I have upgraded my review to 4 stars in light of the seller's response. If I decide to give any more knitting boards away as gifts, I am now prepared to receive no instructions and have the files saved to my PC, in addition to letting the recipients know about the knitting board web site [...].

5Knitting Board - Effective ToolAug 10, 2010
By Cara L. Sisco
The knitting board looms are beautifully made and the metal pegs make it easy to use. I started with one and now own all the knitting board sizes. The owners are very hands on and reply to your questions. I have purchased the plastic looms and looms of other brands without the success. I like how these knitting boards create a double weave and is a small gauge which produces a tight weave. It comes with instructions and their website is very useful with how to videos. I would buy the DVD that they sell that visual shows instructions. Love it! The key is that it works. It is an effective tool.

4Use Caution when buyingDec 08, 2010
By Erin Gourlay
I ordered this as a Christmas gift so I was under a time deadline. All that was in the box was the loom and although the loom is in excellent shape there were no instructions or hooking tool. I was offered, by Amazon, the chance to return the loom and wait 4 weeks for a refund and reorder the loom. I choose to keep the loom and purchase a hook and a nice beginner's book elsewhere. Amazon did offer me a coupon for the price of the hook as a replacement.

There is no way to contact the seller for missing parts so you will have to deal with Amazon's customer service on this item.

****Update****

Seller was unaware that the link to her was missing/broken and has promised to fix the problem with Amazon. She has replaced the missing items from my board loom. I'm sorry that it was me and my review that had to remedy the problem.
