I am in love with this product! I had never seen a kit like this before, and am blown away how easy it makes my projects become.

4Very good setMay 18, 2010
I've had my Denise needle set for about a year and use them frequently, as knitting is my line of business. I was concerned about buying a plastic set, as I usually prefer wood or bamboo and was worried about the quality of a plastic set, but my concerns were unnecessary. The needles are quite sturdy (although slightly less so for the size 5's) and I see them holding up well for years to come. The cable is thick (about the size of the 5 needles) but flexible, and can easily be used for magic loop knitting. The trade-off between plastic and metal needles is the ease of sliding the stitches, but I don't find it difficult or bothersome with these (although some fibers do catch on the join more often than others; ie, I find that cotton slides more easily than acrylic--which I can't stand to use regardless-- and some wools slide more easily than others; it's really the same story for any type of needles, though). I actually find myself knitting at a faster pace with these than with my metal needles, since the plastic is a little more "grippy" but still smooth (similar to wood) and hence I drop less stitches with these. I also find the large cable a little more comfortable on my hands than circulars with smaller cables (I have very small hands, but I imagine it would be true for people with larger hands, too). Another advantage this set has over others I've seen is that the case keeps the set so well-organized. Each slot is labeled with the needle size (both US and traditional sizes), and everything stays in place nicely even if the case is jostled. The other sets of seen lack in this area, even the much more expensive sets.

It would be convenient if the case included spaces to store stitch markers and a tapestry needle, etc. but I just store my stitch markers on the pointy end of one of my less-used (size 11) needles and they stay in place nicely. I keep my tapestry needle underneath the other size 11 needle, and it stays put, too. A separate place for them would be nice, though. However, my only true complaint is that occasionally when I grip the working needle too tightly, it comes unlocked from the cable and I drop several stitches. I'm quick at picking them back up so it's not a huge deal, but it is a little bit of an inconvenience. I'm not sure how this could be resolved (besides just loosening my grip), and I know it's a common problem with the other interchangeable sets I've seen, too, but it's worth being aware of.

Overall, I highly recommend this set. The price can't be beat, especially for the quality of the set.

5Knit with DeniseFeb 02, 2010
These are lovely. Knitting a gauge sample is a breeze! The plastic needles are warm and quiet, the join is smooth, and the cable is soft and pliable. I very much like these needles.

4I have a love hate relationship with theseDec 12, 2009
I have had my set for a year and at first I loved them, but that was before I started knitting on the smaller needles. If you are using anything above a 7 these work fantastically. You can make the cord quite short or really long. The plastic is a good balance between slick and not so the yarn moves over nicely but not sliding everywhere like on some metal needles. However, like I said if you want to knit on needles 6 and below, buy those elsewhere. It doesn't work at all because the needles are almost the same thickness as the cord and does not really slide well on it taking twice as long to finish a project then it would on a good set of regular circular needles.
