Good light, questionable designJan 19, 2010
By Buffalogal What the pictures do not show, is that the power cord is attached to the back of the light. If you clip the light to something, that's probably not an issue. But I have the light resting on a surface, and it's top-heavy, which makes it prone to tipping. Sometimes just bumping the cord can pull it over. (This model comes with the option to clip it onto something, or to add a piece that allows it to be set on a table.)
I will say, however, that despite the fact that it's crashed to the floor a number of times, nothing on it has broken and it still works fine. This would be an acceptable product if you clip it to a counter, which would give it stability. But if you intend to set it on a surface, especially if it's in a place where you (or your cat...) can bump it, this is not the model for you. Other than that, I am happy with the product.

This light is absolutely fantastic. I am a needlepointer and have been searching for the perfect lighting. I found it in the Ott Lite. I can easily clip the light on to my needlepoint frame or for larger projects, convert it to a table light. It offers true, clear light, as close to day light as I have seen. Highly recommend it.

good light-bad designDec 09, 2009
By Giliah S. Litwack Although the light is great-I have two larger ott lights-this has a small plastic piece which is supposed to tighten the lamp in position. The "threads" on this stopped working on the third use and then the whole plastic "bolt" broke. I bought 2 nylon washers, a nylon wing nut, and nylon bolt and fixed it. It only cost another $3.00 to fix and it was worth it. Just be aware.

nice lamp.Feb 12, 2010
By Natalia Makoveeva A nice lamp, smaller that I expected, with a very bright white light. the stand is weird and the clip is weird even more. It can stand on a surface, but it seems unstable. Yes, the power cord is laughable, it doesn't show on the box, but it is huge and heavy. Well, it doesn't interfere with the work too often. The clamp is not that easy to fix, on a craft work I mean. And the stand is not the best. But except for that the light quality is nice.

The bulb housing is crooked. It is smaller than I expected also. You really need to be close to this lamp for the effect of light. That old saying, you get what you pay for, rings true with this one. I will look into a bigger lamp, but not on the internet!
