5Great setSep 03, 2010
It's a great set of needles . Very good price too.The other sets will not give you cable 16 but this one does. I use other needles too, but I am glad that I have this one too :)

5Never Buy Another Set Of Needles!Sep 01, 2010
I have probably about 50 sets of needles, including straight, DPN and circulars, yet I feel like every time I want to do a new project, I don't have the exact size/length called for in the pattern. So I was eager to find a set of interchangeable needles that would fill in the holes in my collection.

I looked at other brands, including Addy (expensive!) and KnitPicks, but I knit a lot of hats and baby clothes, and neither of these had short enough cables to make a 16-inch set of circulars so I ended up buying these, even though I thought from the photo that they looked sort of cheap.

I've only had it a few days, but I've already decided this set is one of the best knitting investments I've ever made! There are enough cables and cable connectors to make just about any length I might need, and the needles come in the most useful sizes. They're easy to use: just put the end of the cable into the needle and twist it to lock into place. The plastic needles knit really fast and smoothly, have a nice warm feel to them, and I don't feel any snagging at the part where the needle and cord connect. I also haven't experienced them coming undone, although the easy way the connection snaps into place made me worry that this would be an issue. The cables are super-flexible, and although they develop a bend from the way they are positioned in the case, the bend easily smooths out.

As for the "cheap" look of them, the case is compact and lightweight, and I actually think it has a cute retro look to it, like something my grandma would've knitted with in the 40s. Plus, it is designed so all of the needles and cables fit snugly into molded plastic indentations, so you can see at a glance the different sizes and if anything is missing. I like the idea that I can take the entire case while I'm traveling - isn't it frustrating when you find a great yarn store and want to buy something to make a project, but have to wait til you get home to your needles to start it? (Or, in my case, you're too impatient and end up buying a set or two of needles you know you already have back home?).

If I have once complaint it would be that the cables aren't labeled with their lengths, so you have to get out your tape measure and do a little experimenting to get the length you need. Then again, how would you label a thin cord? (I guess the label could be imprinted in the plastic holder where each cable goes)

If you're on the fence about this set, I recommend giving it a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. And unlike most knitting stores, I'm guessing you could return the set to Amazon if you find that they're not for you. As for me, I'll be keeping my set and I think I will probably use these needles even in place of the nicer, more expensive bamboo needles that I have!

5Perfect!Aug 15, 2010
I LOVE this kit. I like being able to knit any pattern w/o concern for which needle size/cable length it calls for. I ordered the Interchangeable Crochet Needle kit now as well, which gives me an infinite choice of cable lengths. I love having everything organized in a compact, lightweight kit.

At first I thought I would be taking advantage of Denise's very generous exchange policy as one of my connector pieces wouldn't latch. But she had me first try locking and unlocking the connection a few times with the use of rubber gloves as a gripping agent and then it worked perfectly. They err on the tight side, with good reason, and sometimes need to be "worked" a little.

I'm almost finished knitting a sweater that uses all the cords in one kit. I'm not gentle at all while pushing stitches along, etc, and the connections are strong and true.

I love the feel and the tips and everything else about these needles.

5I love my Denise Needle Set!Jul 19, 2010
I've had this set for about a year. I bought it because it was the cheapest interchangeable needle set I could find. I wish I had bought it sooner. I don't even use my old straight needles anymore; I prefer the Denise needles. I love the material; it's just the right stickiness and smoothness and I've used lots of types of yarn on it. I really dislike metal needles and love wood, but it can be too sticky and these are right in the middle. I love how easy these make changing needle size or cable length in the middle of a project. I highly recommend these to any knitter, especially those just starting out. You absolutely can't beat the value for the price. The only drawback is that the set only goes down to a size five. That's enough for most projects, but for socks and such you will have to buy other needles. I bought a set of wood DPN sock needles from Knit Picks that covers all the sizes the Denise does not and I love those too.

4Excellent set; Very handyJul 16, 2010
I am a fairly new knitter. I kept finding patterns I wanted to try but couldn't because I didn't have the right sized needles. I read about the Denise interchangeable circular needles on a web blog. I did a lot of internet research reading and watching many, many reviews from both lay knitters and professionals. Now that I've bought the set, I have to say that I am very happy with my purchase.

The yarn slides very easily over the needles. The connection point doesn't get my yarn caught, either. If I need to change the needle size up or down one, it is very simple to do. I've even used the one size up and one size down as dpns to finish out a hat project. It worked quite well. Another thing I love about this set is that any pair of needles can become either circular or straight needles, depending on what you need. Plus, they are all in one box and at your fingertips whenever you need them.

The reason I did not give the product a perfect five (well, nothing is really perfect right?) is that the cords keep their bend from the placement in the box, and the "size" of each cord is not labeled in the box. You have to refer to the paperwork to determine the size cord you need to use (other than measuring them each time.)
